Understanding the Value of Art: Free Informational Session

For years now Art has been developing within our borders and it has taken a considerable step ahead but this knowledge has been limited and thus the further steps in evolving it have been dawdling. It is our goal to hep share this knowledge with the public so the growth and understanding of art can be increased. On the 10 th of November an information session will be hosted at the COTA Theatre School. The event will be starting from 2pm to 5pm and entrance will be free to the public. This will be presented by four local and professionals from the arts industry within the Namibian art scene. Guide to the Arts Fair Battle Royale

This will be an arts showdown like Namibia has never seen before at the Arts Fair Battle Royale ! Painters, Dancers and Musicians, going 3 rounds in an amazing competition at one of Windhoek's hottest new venues.  The Kitchen - Arts Fair Battle Royale Venue The venue will be The Kitchen at 1990 Freedom Plaza, just a short walk away from the Arts Fair! Ramatoulie Sallah-Muhammed - Event Organizer Ramatoulie Sallah-Muhammed aka Rahma the Bass is a multi-disciplinary artist, who performs as Rahma the Bass. She has organized many Namibian events, and has worked in festivals, events and conventions in both the U.S. and Namibia as a vendor, workshop presenter and organizer. This weekend we had a meeting with Heather Dennis, commonly known as Miss H, front man for the Fate of Miss H, and a very well known multidisciplinary artist in Namibia. We sat down with her to find out her perspective on the current art industry and where she sees it expanding to in terms of her artistic expression. Catch Miss H live at the Namibia Arts Fair! What is your artistic background? I am an actor, singer, dancer, recently comedian, I've done theatre work and stage work, both on and off stage, and basically art. What does your work try to say? That you can be whatever you want to be and you can be as free as you want to be in your expression of yourself. Who are your biggest influences? We are delighted to say that Jeoffrey Mukubi, performance artist, writer and art & culture critic, is part of the Namibia Arts Fair organizing team!  Jeoffrey (or Jeff as he's known by his friends) is a staunch advocate for the arts and has been instrumental in helping the Arts Fair reach a larger audience. He encourages us to engage with local art stakeholders and to be innovative in our creative experiences. Jeoffrey is currently an arts & lifestyle writer for the Confidente newspaper. He believes that art reflects cultural values, beliefs and identity and helps to preserve the many different communities that make up our world.
