Call for Interns for the Namibia Arts Fair


Are you interested in art, design, and event planning? Do you want to learn the in and outs of Festival Planning? Do you enjoy planning events? If you answered yes to these questions, then an internship with the Namibia Arts Fair is for you!

College students or recent grads, put your skills and smarts to work with us! You'll get real-world experience working with our festival team as well as our artists. Internships are open to college students of all years, both undergraduate and graduate. While the internships are unpaid, they offer the interns valuable experience in a professional working setting and the opportunity to expand their network within the Windhoek, Namibia community. Interns are given high levels of responsibility in planning events, collecting information, and assisting with our events. We have the following positions available:

Office/Courses intern
In this role you will follow up on daily operations in the office. In addition, you will have creative freedom to contribute to the Namibia Arts Fair blog and social media handle. This internship is perfect for developing artistic skills, as it gives you a great opportunity to attend all the Namibia Arts Fair art courses while assisting out with workshops.

Hospitality intern
Applicants should have a working knowledge of the festival world, excellent interpersonal skills, and be willing to work with VIPs in a fast-moving environment. For this position it is necessary to be well-presented and confident. This role will appeal greatly to those interested in pursuing a career in hospitality management.
Events Intern: Applicants should have an interest in event management and will report to the Events Coordinator on planning the Namibia Arts Fair events. They should have great organisation, communication and management skills. This role will appeal greatly to those interested in pursuing a career in event management.

Volunteer Coordination intern
Applicants should have good people management skills. Some customer faced experience in a very fast paced environment is essential. This position will involve contacting and scheduling the volunteers for the Namibia Arts Fair and managing them on site throughout the whole festival.

Marketing intern
Applicants should have a strong focus in marketing with a desire to obtain marketing support experience. For this position interns will help the Marketing Director to implement the Namibia Arts Fair’s marketing strategy. A time precious role that needs somebody with great writing and communication skills, and the ability to pick up an organisation’s Social Media voice fast!

Filmmaker intern
This is a great filmmaking role for those wanting to gain or enhance their videography/photography experience, and who want to develop their skills and gain insight into a world renowned film festival. The role will involve documenting Receptions, Q&As and special events. You must bring your own camera!

Sponsorship Development Interns
Assist the Executive Staff with sponsor relations and solicitation, including:Seek new funding opportunities, Writing sponsor proposals, Assist with sponsor renewals, Write and manage sponsor contracts, Coordination of the annual sponsor breakfast/lunch, Creating sponsorship fulfillment reports, Coordinating sponsorship credentials, Assisting with special projects.



Sales Intern
You are in charge for maintaining and fast-growing a long-term partnership with our customer by continuously proposing solutions and plans that meet their objectives. To do so, you’ll develop a keen understanding of product categories and markets.
Whilst building the plans, you will not only develop your negotiating and sales skills, but also your financial & marketing skills, analytical insights and logistical understanding as you are responsible for your client from A-Z. You will get an understanding of the customers and shoppers needs. You will contribute to negotiations on prices, assortment, merchandising and promotions. You will collaborate with the whole customer team to prepare business plans and external negotiations. You'll be part of a customer team in which trust, team spirit, real passion for winning and leadership are very important.

We encourage students of all backgrounds to apply! All applicants should be available from September 14th to December 10th (negotiable) and will work for a minimum of 24 hours per week. Applicants must be able to work from home (or school, workplace) and occasionally attend events. Students will receive a transportation stipend and a phone/data stipend if their tasks include communication. 

Applicants must be able to dedicate 15 hours per week: the schedule is flexible, but you must be reachable Monday through Friday. Deadline for applications will close on Friday, the 14th of September 2018.

  1. I'd like to know..what if I hadn't gone for graphic design or art school but still have a grounded understanding of it and can show it through my work, can I still apply as an intern for arts fair?
